INTRODUCTION:

The project aims to motivate the target community to find solutions to their urgent problems such as access to land and water, domestic violence, child abuse. Helps to project the natural resources of marginalized communities. The project focuses on marginalized community households (HHs) to increase their income through individual income generation as producer groups (PGs).

OBJECTIVE:

  • Engaging multi-stakeholders to strengthen PRIs to promote and ensure equitable access to CPR.
  • Ensuring the protection and promotions of   the rights of the vulnerable groups such as children, women and Dalits against abuse, discrimination etc.
  • Promotion of social enterprises by supporting an idea generation, incubation, business plan and resource mobilization for sustainable social enterprises.

OPERATIONAL AREA:

Vadasithur Panchayat in Kinathukadavu Block and habitations  

Sellapakavundan pudhur, Kurumba palayam, Samathuva puram & Vadasithur

ACTIVITIES:

  • Visiting and ensuring the existence and functionality of the Centre for Panchayati Raj (CPR) infrastructures (Balwadi/community centers/pond/river/canals and other resources) 
  • Creating awareness  about gram sabha and jamabanthi to the MSHs, Cadres of Vadasithur grama panchayat
  • Conducted preparatory meetings for Gram Sabha and Jamabanthi
  • Participated in Grama sabha meetings
  • Documenting and consolidating PRI interventions and challenges in accessing various schemes by the user groups/marginalized sections
  • Formation and strengthening of the vigilance community to address the issue of the vulnerable. 
  • Mapping the appropriate financial resources for marketing and linking with existing trade Specific Interventions- Planning for marketing strategies and linkage with appropriate financial institutions
  • Information gathering and identifying Multi Stake Holders (MSHs)
  • Strengthening and mainstreaming formed cadres with MSH approach 
  • Problem tree analysis exercise for MSHs 
  • Consultations for the development and revisiting of the GPDP at GPs level
  • Promotion and strengthening of children parliaments at the panchayat level
  • Developing IEC materials about Government schemes 

PROJECT ACHIVEMENTS:

  • New pipeline connection has been installed after the issue raised in the Gramasabha
  • Panchayat has  installed a greater number of choke pit for the Vadasithur region
  • Old houses have been renovated by the help of Vadasithur village panchayat
  • Drainage has been cleaned and new canal has been constructed in Kurumbapalayam region
  • Planted 1500 saplings in Samathuvapuram region to promote green ecology with the help of MGNREGS workers
  • 40 widows of Vadasithur region were benefitted with each one 5 goats for their income generation by the effort of MSH
  • 100 houses were renovated in the Samathuvapuram region, after the resolution passed in Grama Sabha meeting by stanch efforts of MSH, each beneficiary got 50,000/- for the renovation with the total value of Rs.1 crore.
