Project Title
Integrated Programme for the Social transformation among the Narikkuravas (Nomadic tribal group) in 7 clusters of Coimbatore District
Description
CMSSS started to work among these Narikkuravas (Nomadic tribal group) by starting women self-help groups and motivate them about social awareness, education and creating health awareness, etc. Through this activity CMSSS come across various issues faced by Narikuravas problems to improve their poor living conditions, livelihood, illiteracy, early marriage, lack of hygienic practices, using open field for defecation, etc. Now, government has provided them a permanent shelter. They do not have toilet facilities. Hence, we have proposed these programmes under CMSSS to provide them necessary awareness on their status and motivate to access government and other schemes towards their holistic development.
Goal
Enabling social transition of the Narikkuravas (Nomadic Tribes) for their holistic empowerment that ensure their decent life with dignity.
Objectives
To increase the capacity of the Narikkuravas in the dimensions of socioeconomic, health and education. declaration
Activities
Capacity Building
- Formation and strengthening of women self-help groups and training on leadership qualities
Education
- Promoting evening tuition centers in seven clusters for enhancing the supplementary education for children
- Providing educational materials to the children of Narikuravas community.
- Training on hygienic practices mainly WASH, Nutritious food habits for children and Sensitization programme on significance of education for parents
- Children’s Day celebration program with children in the seven clusters
Health
- Awareness Training for women on health, government schemes and women rights
- Conducting personality development programme and Awareness programme on early marriage and its consequences on health for youth
- Awareness programme on alcoholism and its ill-effects and open defecation and utilization of sanitation facilitation for gypsy communities
Livelihood
- Skill training on artificial jewel making, marketing linkages and rabbit and love birds rearing and sales for women

The overall project goal is to strengthen the health and livelihood options of women and youth along with capacity building of students in tribal settlements in Valparai and Manambily range in Coimbatore district, Tamilnadu, India.
