EZHUVOM IYYAKAM – CANCER CARE CAMPAIGN
INTRODUCTION
The aim of the campaign is to create cancer awareness amongst the men, women, school children and adolescent girls. It is important to dispel the myths that people wrongly believe, inform them about the signs and symptoms, and importance of screening for early detection. It is also vital to follow a healthy lifestyle, and sharing of survivor stories gives a message of hope and confidence. The project facilitates all eligible target community within Coimbatore District to have a maximum access to quality cancer screening and treatment services with referral services.
OBJECTIVES
To provide referral services for cancer screening and treatment services to the community and reduce cancer incidence & mortality to improve the quality of life.
OPERATIONAL AREAS
Coimbatore, Kinathukadavu, Pollachi, Valparai & Avinashi
ACTIVITIES
- Ensuring formation of Core Volunteers at DSSS level and training for core volunteers and ensuring Volunteers ID Card
- Awareness programme for Women SHG, General population, Students, Bank employees, etc.
- Conducting Interface meetings & Network meetings
- Conducting Cancer screening camps for general publics and especially for Gypsy communities
- District Level Signature Campaign on World Cancer Day
- Developing IEC materials to educate awareness about cancer
- Plantation of saplings to promote green ecology on World Environment Day
- Celebrated World Yoga Day by conducting free yoga classes for SHG members
- Conducted Mass awareness rally for creating awareness about Cancer among publics
