About the Commission
The Catholic Church has been working for the development of Dalit Catholics for many years through social development programs and education. Now through the new policy for the Dalits in India, the Church wishes to dedicate itself to them through a more systematic approach which seeks to abolish all forms of exclusion of the socially backward section and empower them. The primary focus of this regional commission is to facilitate the diocesan commission to reach out to the respective Dalit communities and enable them to assert their rights, self-respect, and human dignity. It also helps the Dalit communities beyond religion to have a decent livelihood.
Vision
TNBC Commission for SC/ST envisions building up equitable society based on human dignity and equality of justice becomes the basis of faith as image and likeness of the Creator, the Dalits are recognized, socially, and religiously as equal partners in the Kingdom of God.
Mission
To enable the Dalit Christians to attain self-reliance and self sustainability by their participation in the process of animation and empowerment and to promote over all development through empowering education to those who are at the receiving end of the society, should become the centre of power-generating dynamic force.
